Rolling Oils and Temper Rolling Fluids

Hot Rolling Oil for Steel

Product Name: DAIROLL

Hot rolling can be broadly categorized into two types. One is the process of rolling steel to make strip-shaped (plate-shaped) products (thick plates, thin plates), and the other is the process of making shaped steel, such as H-shaped steel, rails, etc. Steel is processed at high temperatures of 900℃ to 1250℃, so hot rolling oil is used at that time to reduce the rolling load, prevent seizure between the rolls and the steel, reduce damage to the roll surface, and suppress roll wear. Hot rolling oil is generally supplied using a method called water injection.

Cold Rolling Oil for Steel

Product Name: DAIROLL

Cold rolling makes the plate processed by hot rolling even thinner and more beautiful, with the thinnest being 0.1 mm thick. There are tandem mills with multiple rolling rolls lined up, reverse mills in which a pair of rolling rolls work back and forth, and Sendzimir mills are used for rolling hard materials. Cold rolling oil is used to reduce friction between the rolls and the steel plate, prevent seizure between the rolls and the steel plate, and stabilize the surface quality of the steel plate. Cold rolling oil is generally used in an emulsion state where oil is emulsified (dispersed) in water.

Non-Ferrous Rolling Oil

Product Name: DAIROLL

Non-ferrous rolling oils include aluminum and copper rolling oils. Aluminum is hot rolled at 350℃ to 500℃, and low-viscosity oil-based (or non-aqueous or insoluble) rolling oils are generally used to reduce load, prevent seizure, and ensure quality. On the other hand, water-soluble rolling oils are used for the hot rolling and rough/intermediate rolling of copper and copper alloys for the same purpose as aluminum. After hot rolling, copper and copper alloys are rough/intermediate rolled after the oxide layer on the surface is scraped off. Also, oil-based (or non-aqueous or insoluble) rolling oils are generally used for cold rolling of copper and copper alloys.

Temper Rolling Fluids

Product Name: DAISKIN

Water-soluble temper rolling fluid is a product that we developed in 1958, the first in the world. Temper rolling fluid is a water-soluble rolling fluid used during temper rolling in order to adjust plate thickness after annealing and improve plate surface cleanliness.
We have products lineup that have excellent build-up and gum-up resistance and can be used for diversified temper rolling operations. We also have temper rolling fluids for plated steel sheets.
