Cutting is processing method that processes workpieces with cutting tools (drills, tool bits, end mills, etc.) to create the shape desired by the customer. Cutting oil is applied to reduce heat generation and tool wear during cutting, improve product precision, and extend tool life.

Grinding is a processing method in which workpieces are processed with a grinding wheel to create the shape desired by the customer. Grinding oil is applied to reduce heat generation and wear of grindstone during grinding, and to prevent the grinding wheel from clogging, quick removal of chips is required.
